Garden Season 2019
The following are pictures of 2019 gardening at several Winnipeg Housing buildings.

Garden Season 2016
In August 2014, Project GROW expanded again with a garden at 576 McDermot Ave. Thanks to all the tenants help with shoveling dirt and prepping the boxes. Thanks to Community Places and RBC Foundation for funding the garden.

In June Project GROW was able to install the newest garden at 347 Manitoba. Thanks to all the tenants who came out and shovelled dirt. A great time was had by all during the BBQ. Thanks to Community Places and Healthy Together Now Grant who funded the project.

Thanks to a grant from Community Places and The Royal Bank and the labour of the Kilcona Park Alliance Church youth group, 588 Manitoba has Project GROW’s newest garden. There are 5 boxes and a rain barrel for watering the plants.

Garden Season 2012
The garden at 970 Sherbrook has expanded. Starting next spring, there will be 18 boxes available for the tenants to plant in. Thanks to Community Places and The Home Depot Canada Foundation for your generous contributions towards making this expansion possible.

After the fire, Project Glow wanted to get the tenants at 351 Victor back to their normal lives and get them again thinking about how to make an impact in their community. So, a garden initiative was undertaken. A huge thank you goes out to the Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church for volunteering and constructing the garden boxes.

In 2006, Project Glow started a community garden for tenants at 60 Frances Street. The garden was a popular spot for tenants providing sustenance and a place to meet with neighbours. In 2010 the garden moved from 60 Frances Street to 970 Sherbrook Street. The garden continues to be enjoyed by many tenants and is a spot that draws the community together. Project Glow thanks Paul Barton for his ongoing contributions to the community garden. In 2011, Project Glow developed a garden at 531 Furby Street. In 2012, the 970 Sherbrook Street garden will be expanded to meet growing demand.
In addition to the community garden, Winnipeg Housing has a greenhouse located at 300 Selkirk Avenue. The greenhouse has led to a community development project as the Point Douglas Seniors Program has let several different community groups utilize the greenhouse.
Are you interested in gardening? Project Glow has available boxes for tenants and can connect tenants to the community gardens. Contact the Project Glow Coordinator for more information or a garden application.
