Emergency Procedures
In Case of Fire
If you live in an apartment building, you will find fire safety and evacuation information on each floor. You can also obtain fire safety information from your caretaker or from our office upon request.
Make sure you know at least 2 ways out of the building in case one escape route is blocked by fire. Plan and practice these escape routes with your household members so everyone knows how to exit the building safely.
If you hear the fire alarm you should ALWAYS LEAVE the building right away. Follow your fire escape plan.
If a fire breaks out in your home, EVACUATE to safety, activate the fire alarm, and call the fire department.
Contact your caretaker or head office if you notice a problem with your smoke alarm. We will inspect all smoke alarms annually. Do not remove or disable the smoke alarm – this is illegal.
Leave fire fighting to the local fire department. Only use a fire extinguisher if you have been trained. If you want to learn how to use a fire extinguisher, you can phone your local fire department.
In Case of Flood or Major Water Leak
Call the office immediately. If it is after hours you will be directed to our after hours emergency line. Based on the information we receive from you, we may provide you with additional instructions or we may simply attend the scene to assess the situation first hand. Individual cases will likely vary as to our response.
In Case of No Heat
Call the office immediately. If it is after hours you will be directed to our after hours emergency line.
